Asset / Liabilities
The potential of this country has been reduced from full throttle to an idle. This country does not have enough power (strength) to pull itself out of the nose dive it is in. This is a result of not having a direction, agenda and goals due to bad leadership. We are abusing our assets and not being responsible for our liabilities. What are assets and liabilities and what do they mean? In the business world, they are the positive and negative, the pro and con, the growth and death of a business. I am going to use these two words in describing the relationship between this country and its people. First, we need to define these words for a reference and to understand how they are defined in the dictionary. Asset; any item of value owned, that which is a resource; character is an asset. Liabilities; state or quality of being liable, something that acts as a disadvantage or a drawback.
This or any country’s integrity is the result or sum of its people supporting and working together to be an asset to its growth and strength. If you compare the integrity of a country to an engine in a car, then the people are its pistons and cylinders. If all of the cylinders and pistons are working together to produce power, then the engine is working at full power and in harmony. If and when some of the cylinders are not producing power, then the engine don’t work at full power and the other cylinders end up carry more of the load. Those cylinders not working become a liability to its strength, power and its survivability. Just like the people of this country, when they decide to no longer support and do their part in this country, they become a liability to it and its survivability.
To me, the biggest asset a country has within it is trust. With trust, a country can have more with less. But when trust is misused, it will kill or destroy a country quicker than it can be built. When we no longer take a person’s word or trust them, then how do we expect our young to trust or follow us. To me trust has two parts, a: you know what someone will or won’t do when you are not there to watch them, b: you are going to know what someone will or is going to do without asking them. It seems that our leaders have taken the trust that was invoked in them for their job and turned that asset into a liability for this country’s integrity. Trust is formed out of integrity, honesty, responsibility for which this country has abandoned.
When a child looks at his parents, are they seeing an asset for their future or will they be a liability that we will be responsible for? When a parent looks at their children, will they see an asset to their future or will they be a liability to us? When a child is raised as an asset; are they prepared for the path they will take to become a pillar in society? When a child is raised as a liability; the path that is prepared for them is on unstable soil like quick sand, and they will not even be able to support themselves. When a parent raises their children as an asset, they insure their own future. When a parent raises their children as a liability, their own future is on unstable ground. Like the old adage, “You sleep in the bed that you make”, but in reality you will sleep in the bed that someone else tell you to sleep in, not your own!
Courage is a quality that comes from inside a person and shines through when they put their own beliefs before their own self-interest. The courage that Americans had during WWII is being traded for its own self-interest and has become a liability to its own future and existence. Like the big bully in school that keeps taking your lunch money and you do nothing to stop it, the American people have lost the courage to take a stand and stop the abuse our leaders are doing to them. When you don’t stand up for what is right and you run from the bully, you will live with that for the rest of your life. The sad part is, your children are the ones that will live with your lack of courage, and then this asset is lost and will not be passed on for lack of example. They will get to live within a world of higher cost of living, lower quality of life, higher crime, lower education, higher taxes, less freedom, more big brother and most of all, your honor/word will not mean anything.
In the beginning, everything we do will be an asset or a liability to our future and that is based on four decisions that we make. Those four choices are; what to do and what not to do and what to be and what not to be are based on everyone we meet. Those decision are based on how we are raised with honor, integrity, courage and more. If we decide to condone all the abuse that we are doing to this country and not make a change, then in the end what all the Americans died for that are buried in Arlington National Cemetery and everywhere else does not mean a thing. So, this Thanksgiving while you are sitting around the table enjoying your family and friends, think what people gave up and did without to get this country where it is today. The freedom you have today is the result of Americans in the past not abusing their assets and being accountable for their liability.
I do not have a magic word or phrase to say that will make you change the way you look at this country, but you don’t have to look far to see where this country is heading. The sad part is that the more we do to help us (The American People), the more damage we do to our own country in the name of progress. At the rate we are going, we will not be able to build enough or fast enough, the highways, hospitals, schools and everything else that what we think we need. Our Political leaders have set up so many government programs to help us that everybody has become addicted to them. Now, so many people can not even work on their own, they need some sort of government assistance to exist. All of these welfare programs have gotten this country trying to lift itself up by its own boot straps and it does not work. With this logic, we are going to end up falling flat own our back and will not be able to get up.
If you want to see a change, it will be up to you and you only. I know how to fix this country, but it is no easy walk in the park. If you would like to get together and talk about this country and its future, contact me at flehartyusa.com. You can read and hear more what I have to say.
