What the “08” election is “About”
I don’t know what words to say that you have not already heard to get you to read this article. What I do believe is that this country’s leaders and its people are no longer working together for a better and safer world. The people have been violated by their leaders to the point that they just don’t care and that is a very sad day in the life of this country. When the people of a country no longer have faith in their own leaders, how can someone gain their trust with just words so they will listen to that person? I am asking you to give me a chance and listen to what I have to say and try to understand that you can not quit if you believe in America and our way of life.
My name is Rick Fleharty and I am running for the office of President of the United States of America as an Independent. Everybody thinks this election is about the Democrats or Republicans getting control and trying to fix this country by saying the other side caused all of the problems. We all carry some of burden for this country’s problems. What most people don’t realize is that this election will have a big impact on the survival of this country. What this election is all “about”, is Americans becoming Americans again. It is about demanding less from the government and supporting/giving to this country more. It is about becoming “we and us” and not “I and me”. It is about being an example for our young people to look up to and respect.
Our leaders have turned this country down the wrong path, and its people just followed them. Like a ball starting to roll down a hill, once you gain enough speed, there is a point that you can’t stop until it crashes or runs out of energy. Just like the ball, our country is going down a path and may have too much energy to stop or slow down. If and when this country does crash, will there be any Americans around to put it back together? Will we still own the land that was handed down to us by our forefathers? Our leaders talk is not the same as their walk; they are just a bunch of arm chair quarterbacks.
As I look at our next generation coming of age, I wonder if they realize what is in store for them or what this country is in store for. We are no longer teaching our young for the path they will be taking in life, but we have programmed them to react and not think before making a sound judgment decision. In the evolution of this country, have our own independents and dependants swapped roles to the point that we can no longer take care of ourselves? Have we raised our standard of living so high that we can’t even support the system that we designed and built? Did keeping up with the Jones do us in?
Our forefathers conceived this country on the basis of a government; of the people, by the people and for the people. I believe that what built this country is now tearing it apart and its days are numbered. The freedom they gave this country is now being abused by its own citizen’s on the biases that freedom is free, it’s not!
