Health Care

Health care in this country is out of hand.  There are so many people without basic health care in this country that it can go to the moon and back.  It is very sad that our leaders take better care of themselves than they do of the people who support them.  There is a way of doing health care in this country so it is simple and covers everybody will have it.  Before we can have a good health care system, a few ground rules will have to be set.  One: you can’t save every child that is born.  Two: we can’t extend every life to live longer than the natural cycle.  When you try and save on both ends, it is like a teeter totter with more weight on each end; sooner or later it will break.  The board that breaks represents the system that supports the health care in this country and when the demand placed on it is more than it can support, it breaks.  Then you will have a bigger problem than you did before.

Health care should be in two categories, active military and everyone else.  The military has it own health care system and it is self explanatory.  The “everyone else” health care system works on a tax funding system that comes from two sources.  The two sources are an income tax and a sales tax.  The income tax is paid with your federal tax at a flat fee of let’s say $50 pre/person every year and that money goes directly to the CDC for its funding only.  The sales tax is paid by everyone else and this is what will support our health care system for this country’s citizens.  This money does not go into the general fund; it is in its own account and can not be tapped for other uses.

This health care system will cover everybody (Congress, government workers, overseas travelers, businesses and cities, municipalities, young, old and more).  If you set the system up so that you pay into it via a sales tax, you have a health care system that you pay into from the first time you buy something to when you die.  This will also include overseas travelers so they help pay for there share when they visit us.  This has many pluses to it: one, it takes the burden off small business trying to provide medical ins. for their employees.  Two, it will take the stress off the family that does not have health care and we should see healthier families.  Three, we no longer will have to do fundraisers for different medical research like March of Dimes, MDS and others.  This will all be funded by the sales tax.  Each person is still responsible for part of the basic doctor’s visit and some of their medicines, but all major problems are taken care of. When health care is done this way, it will be off the table when it comes to political campaigns.

This health care system will have several areas that it will be involved in; treatment and research, education and health care standards, training of our emergence personnel, community disease control, dental and eye care, rehab, Seeing Eye dogs and more.  This may seem very large and impossible to implement, but it can be done if we keep it simple/basic and do our part. Doing our share may be the hardest part.  The health system care is not totally responsible for a person’s health; part of the responsibility goes to each person, the food industry, schools, business, industry and more.  This includes producing healthy foods for us to eat.  It is everybody’s responsibility to do their part in keeping them self in good shape.  We have to learn to accept that getting sick is a part of life.

This health care will include checkups, shots, exams, basic items, post care and rehab and what it takes to have basic care after an accident or major injury.  The cost for treatment and care will be the same from coast to coast.  If we can make the minimum wage the same across this country, we can make health care the same too.  This also includes injuries from accident via automobile, planes, trains and any other areas.   In doing this, this will help out on insurance and it is no longer an issue.  Doing health care this way, workman comp. insurance is gone or greatly reduced.

In closing, the health care issue is one of about six issues that will need to be resolved before this country can get back on its own two feet again.  You might think that this is a form of social medicine and will not work.  What we have now is not working and is doing more damage to the over all health of America and its people.  The more demand you put on any system (that is when you expect to receive more than you give back) will destroy it and in turn will destroy yourself.  The outcome and benefits of any system is greatly proportional to what you put in it, not what you take out of it.  There is no perfect health care system and you can micro manage it to a point that it will do more damage to a country and its people in the long haul.  There is more to this health care system, this is just an overview.
