What does this phrase represent, mean and do for a country? In its very basic form, it is the life blood of a community and a country. It is how the people of that country work and support each other for their own good and welfare. It is how they teach their own offspring how to work to support each other. When they work together they become the spokes of a wheel and support it as the wheel rotates. The wheel rotation represents the progress a country makes as it journeys through its life. When the spokes of a wheel decide not do their part or make other spokes carry more load than they should, that is when the smoothness of the rotation causes the wheel to get out of balance. One of two things will happen; if it maintains its speed or speeds up, it becomes unbalanced and will destroy itself. When it destroys itself, will there be anybody around to put it back together again? The other version is that it will slow down to a point that the rotation will stop and the heavy side will go to the bottom and all progress will come to a stop. Just like this country, everyone is out for themselves and take more energy out of the wheel than they put in or do nothing to slow it down.
When everyone works together and everyone supports each other, you have a harmony and a smooth running wheel. Yes, as you travel through life you will have bumps and will get broken spokes. The key to success and progress is being there to support each other at the time of need. When you abandon your fellow spoke in its time of need, they may not be there when you need support in your time of need. As the wheel rotates, each spoke has its turn in supporting the load that it is carrying. As the wheel revolves around, we all have our time in supporting the load as we go down the road of progress.
“Made in USA” and “American Made” do not mean the same thing. At first glance you think they represent Americans supporting Americans and this country, but that is not so. What does “Made in U.S.A.” represent today? I guess it depends on where your point of view is and what it means to you. I see companies use this saying to get you to by their product in saying that they are Americans, but do they buy “Made in U.S.A.” materials to put in there product? Do they buy “Made in U.S.A.” equipment and tools to make there product? You see “Made in U.S.A.” on products, but the companies are foreign own company’s. You see American own companies have things built overseas and foreign owned companies build there products here, where is the common sense in this. It seems that people want you to buy their product at their price, but they do not want to pay someone else’s price for their “Made in U.S.A.” products. Everyone wants a good paying job, what people don’t realize is that so does everybody else. When you support each other in this country, it keeps the wheel rolling. I see companies make “Made in U.S.A.” products, but in turn buy gifts to give away that are made overseas to get you to buy their products. This in turn represents the double standards that this country is representing more and more.
When we/you buy American made products, it is like reinvesting in yourself. The money never leaves the country and it supports in so many ways. When you buy products from a foreign owned company, it is like giving money to your enemy. It makes you weaker and them stronger, they know your weakness and will use that against you. When we import products that we can make here, we loose in many ways. One: most things that we import end up in our landfill because we don’t recycle or repair. Two: getting support and/or repair parts takes longer because no one has any parts on hand or they change the design and no longer support last year’s products. Three: we loose the ability to manufacture for ourself to a point that they will control what we can have, just like the gas import problem we have today.
We used to take care of things that we bought with money that we worked hard for, now we use it and throw it away. The landfills are filling up with nothing more than junk that we imported and don’t take care of anymore. We are becoming the dumping station of the world and our children get to live in it after we are gone. Our throw away society is doing more damage to this country than just polluting it. We have been trained to the point that when it breaks, just throw it away and buy a new one. We have learned to manufacture in a way that we don’t build it to repair or recycle, but to throw it away. Look at our aluminum can that we recycle and compare it to the old glass pop bottle. The glass pop bottle had a shorter and cheaper recycling system than the aluminum beverage can. The aluminum beverage is a health issue and is a mirror image of attitude that Americans and their throw away society. What Americans don’t understand is that they are throwing away their own country and polluting it at the same time. That landfill I talk about is American made and is a mirror image of how we take care of this country that was handed down to us.
Earlier I talked about the progress that a country makes; it is like the rotation of a wheel. Progress is measured in just not what you have; it is also measured in what you don’t have . If a country raises the bar that represents the country standard too high and fast, it ends up loosing more of itself and natural resources in the name of progress. We are making changes in the name of “New and Improved”, then we throw it away before we even have a chance to evaluate it. Soon, our landfills will be the new toxic clean up site and nowhere to put our own waste. As you can see; progress can do more damage than good if you don’t take the time to evaluate the bar’s height that represents this countries standard. This country’s wheel is spinning so fast and that if it doesn’t start slowing down quickly, we will self-destruct. Your choice, your future.
